Hello,

This week was AWESOME! We literally saw Brother Whitman every day this week.

On Friday Elder Gay visited the mission! The meeting went from 7:30am-3:30pm. It was really great but I was exhausted after. He taught the four principles on teaching repentance:

1. Teach with authority and with understanding (you have been called to be an answer to their prayers)
2. Teach doctrine with understanding (Understand the blessings associated with the commandments)
3. Invite to act with understanding (Invite to repent)
4. Act with obedience and mighty prayer to increase your faith

The last hour was a Q&A some missionaries asked deep doctrine questions...and then some asked one about investigators, helping family back at home, etc. He shared some amazing experiences. He focused a lot on "listening to the spirit that is within you." I loved that. Elder Gay is definitely a spiritual giant.

Saturday we went to the church at noon and started filling the font. Our mission leader Brother Suttle helped so much with the baptism - so grateful for him. The font took about 3 hours to fill. We printed out programs and set up the refreshment room, etc.

 

The layout was really similar to Brooke's baptism where we had it in the chapel and then the primary room for the baptism and back to the chapel. There were so many people there. It was so great and Brother Whitman was glowing after. The baptism went so smooth and there were quite a few non-members and inactives (so that was good). Sisters Hollingsworth, Pope, and I taught the Restoration while Brother Whitman was getting dressed - so happy we could be part of the program. It is such a humbling experience to be a part of someone's conversion. I am so happy for Sister Whitman because in a year they will be able to be sealed in the temple.

Sunday, We saved a spot for the Whitmans at church. We got a text from Sister Whitman saying "guess who was watching Youtube videos on how to tie a tie last night?" We were laughing because Brother Whitman NEVER WEARS TIES!!! So this was a big deal. When they got to church he was in a tie and a suit coat - He looked sharp. After the announcements Brother Whitman was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. What a neat experience. Brother Terry his home teacher and also 1st counselor in the Bishopric confirmed him. Sister Whitman was so happy - I think she is still in shock that he is a member now.

This week I hit my 6 month mark! So crazy. I love serving the Lord and being able to experience so many miracles. I have learned so much the past 6 months and hope to learn much more. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings true happiness and pure joy. Love you all. Happy Thanksgiving!  We also found out that we are having dinner with the Conines, Paynes, and the Williams all @ the Conines - it is going to be so much fun!

"Sound of a Trump"

This was a crazy election week. A ton of members kept asking us if people would bring up politics, but the majority of people that brought up politics were the members themselves. When we found out Trump won, Sister Pope said "well you know that the second coming will be declared with the sound of a "TRUMP"!! I was cracking up!!!

This week we had zone conferences and it was great. We got to see the Christmas Initiative that the Church doesn't release until November 25th. I guess missionaries get to see it so they can prepare to show people and we even got the pass along cards. So that's great - I can't wait until you can all watch it. Elder Nydegger (Elder and Sister Nydegger are a couple that work in the mission office) sat at our table during the lunch break and we are becoming good friends. He brought up, again, meeting you (mom) at the Rasmussen's farewell. Sister Pope and I also got the "Golden Plates!" they are awarded every zone conference to the companionship that has the cleanest car. Definitely a highlight of the week!

Elder Gay of the Seventy is coming this Friday! It should be really good. The conference with him starts at 7:30am and goes to 1:30pm! He is also reorganizing a stake too.

We finished all the review lessons with Brother Whitman. He is doing so great and is ready to get wet. He has his interview tonight and then we are going to see them Wednesday, Friday, and of course Saturday and Sunday! Sister Pope, Hollingsworth, and I will be teaching the Restoration in between the baptism and him getting dressed. I AM SO EXCITED! I AM SO GRATEFUL HEAVENLY FATHER IS LETTING ME BE A PART OF HIS BAPTISM/CONVERSION!

We also got our flu shots last p-day and it was Cody's birthday so we stopped by and saw him. Brooke and Cody would be good friends!

One cool experience was that on our way to an appointment we had about 15 minutes before we needed to be there. Around the corner was an apartment that the previous young men's president lived before he moved last month. The spirit told me to go knock so we did. No answer the first knock but the second knock a guy in his mid-20s answered the door. His girlfriend just had a baby 2 weeks ago so we so we talked about having Christ centered families and how the gospel blesses families and went into teaching the Restoration. It was really neat and I am so grateful I followed that prompting.

We have had a lot of lessons this week with less actives and they are doing really well.

Yello!

This week was great! 

The zone activity was so much fun on Monday - we made caramel apples and played volleyball for about 2 hours straight (my body was so sore).

On Tuesday we had a lesson with Crystal (the one we have been trying to teach forever) on the plan of salvation - went wonderful! 

We had interviews this week with President and Sister Rasmussen - I love them so much. 

We have done a lot of service this week. I don't think I have mentioned this before but we volunteer at the Food Bank, the Senior Center, and now we are helping Mother 2 Many Ministry - they feed kids and families in the community after school. So that was neat to be a part of. 

Brother Whitman is doing so great. It is so humbling to be part of someone's conversion. We have lessons on Wednesdays and Sundays with him. Yesterday Brother Terry came to the lesson and he taught about the Priesthood it was really powerful. We went over the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it was perfect because yesterday in gospel principles the lesson was on baptism. Sister Whitman bore her testimony in Sacrament and it was so sweet. She is still in shock that after 25 years he is finally getting baptized. I am so happy for them. 

We have been working with a handful of less actives and they are doing really well. One of them is really making an effort to know if this is the true church and she also bore her testimony yesterday. :) 

We also went on exchanges this week. I went to South Hill/Silver Creek with Sister Herlin. I love her so much and I learned a lot. We saw many miracles one of them was...we were knocking on a potential investigators door but she didn't answer, we noticed there was someone across the street working on their car. We started talking to him - his name was Gabe. We ended up teaching him the Restoration, committed him to read the Book of Mormon, invited him to be baptized, and invited him to church. The spirit was very strong even though there was 80s rock music playing in the background. I felt the spirit working through both of us as we taught and testified. 

 

We also taught a 9 year old boy named Leo and Sister Herlin hasn't taught a lot of kids on her mission so she asked if I would take the lead. I was more than happy to. I love teaching little kids about the gospel - It is the best because it is so simple. 

I also learned from Sister Herlin to always find where you are. 

I have felt the Atonement and the love of the Savior flow more freely into my life. I am so grateful for the many blessings I have been given. I am reading in 1 Nephi right now and I want to focus on being more like Nephi and never murmuring and always have faith.
