Good Things Are Happening

Hello Family,

So I wanted to share some of the miracles we have seen this week:
The Scotts were out of town for the past 10 days visiting family in Florida. On Friday we got a text from Brother Scott saying "The Scott family is back in town." Later Sister Scott texted us that she was coming to CHURCH on Sunday!!!! I was so excited and she came! She has been to our ward maybe 2 times before but this time quite a few members fellowshipped her and helped her feel welcome! It was wonderful - I love the Buckley 1st members!

During ward council Bishop gave us an assignment to go with some of the high priests to give blessings to a family that requested them. So hopefully this next part isn't confusing. So a member that lived in the Buckley 1st ward moved to Sumner in the summer when I was there and we had helped them move in. I loved the family and I felt like we connected really well. So her Sister B. (the member) has a cousin that is going through a hard time right now. Her aunt is less active member and asked Sister B. to ask Bishop for blessings for the Aunt and her 2 (nonmember) daughters. One of the daughters is a young mom and the other is in law school. We went over with two of the high priests for the blessing Sunday night. Sister B. was at the blessing and it was so good to see her. The family was super sweet and was so grateful we were all there. Before the blessing Brother P. basically taught the Restoration and explained the priesthood. They gave blessings to the Mom and both daughters. The spirit was so strong and the blessings were so beautifully said. Brother P. invited them to meet with us and the daughter that is having this trial in her life said absolutely and wanted to have us over for dinner. It was such a neat experience to be there and we have 2 potential investigators now.
It was such a blessing to have Sister Scott at church and witness those priesthood blessings. I know Heavenly Father is guiding this work and I am so grateful to be part of it.

This week I also got to go on a blitz with Sister Bowman (we came out in the field together) in South Hill. She is one of my STLs and I am so happy about it.

Funny moment:
We had dinner with some members- the Sterziks! When we got there we took our shoes off at the door. They said if we take our shoes off then we have to put these on. . .

Brother Sterzik also showed us his origami boat collection that consists of 1 million small boats that took him 13 years to complete. It was pretty sweet! Talk about dedication!

Much Love,

Sister Wynder

Birthday + Easter

Hi Family,

Thank you for all the birthday wishes - it was a wonderful day. Feels so weird to be 20 though. There is no turning back...

We had fun making a bunny cake last week. One of the zone leader's birthday was on the 10th and so we had cake at zone training on Tuesday! President and Sister Rasmussen were there and they said, "So you made your own birthday cake?" I responded "I sure did, the bunny cake is a tradition in my family." Zone training was great though. The spirit told me I need to focus more on inviting people to be baptized. So my goal this week has been having a mindset of baptism.

We were able to get into a lot of members homes this week to show #PrinceofPeace - so many members were willing to share it. I am grateful for the members desire to share the Gospel we are praying as we follow up with them we will be able to find some new investigators.

We were able to do a lot of service this week which I love. We were helping a returning member move some things into her garage. She use to be in a band and the garage was all decked out with pictures of her band, instruments, etc. I thought now this would be a fun place to play Rock Band on news years eve with the family after the mission. Haha.

On my birthday we had dinner with the Lathrops - Hawaiian haystacks, yum! The Lathrops are awesome and their 3 girls are so cute. They bought me some bunny ears and the girls drew pictures for me.

Last week we found a potential investigator named Cody. He is a single dad with 2 kids. One day we were walking and passed a neighborhood we saw some kids playing outside. I felt the nudge of the Holy Ghost so we walked into the neighborhood and met Cody. We went back on Saturday and taught him the Restoration - invited him to read the Book of Mormon, pray, and be baptized. He said he wasn't sure but that he would pray about it. We set up a return appointment, so I am excited for that. I am so grateful for the guidance of the Holy Ghost and leading us to those that are ready to hear the Gospel.

Easter was great. It was sunny for the most part and church was wonderful. I am so grateful for the life and resurrection of the Savior. I have been studying a lot about the Savior this week and I have truly felt his love flow more into my life. At church in Relief Society the lesson was on prayer. They talked about family prayer and how it unites, strengthens, and protects families. I felt the spirit so strong thinking about that. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family that prays for me. I felt those prayers a little extra in that moment. The spirit brought to my mind the last family prayer we had before we took Mason to the airport for his mission. I remember how special that was for our family and I knew Mason would be protected on his mission. The spirit confirmed to me the importance of family prayer.

This morning we got permission to go on a sunrise hike for Easter. We went with the Hermanas and it was so beautiful. I love Washington!!!!

Much Love,

Back in Sumner

Hello Family,

So this week basically all of our investigators were out of town so we did a lot of less-active work.

On Saturday Tayton and Riley from Sumner got baptized!!!! It was so great. They asked me to give the Holy Ghost talk. The spirit was so strong and I love children's baptisms. I am so grateful I was able to teach them. What a joyful day it was. It was really great to see a lot of the member that were there to support them.

Also Saturday was Festival of Finding! Hermana Van Leuven and I were on splits with each other and we had a miracle lesson. We knocked into a Spanish-speaking member that we didn't know was a member. She was from Peru and invited us in. She had a friend over and invited her to listen to a message. Her name was Frida and she was from Peru as well. They didn't speak English very well so I didn't think I would be much help. We opened with a prayer and started teaching the Restoration. I tried to teach as simply as I could but they didn't understand much of what I said. So Hermana Van Leuven basically taught the whole lesson. They had Peruvian accents and Hermana Van Leuven said it was really hard to understand. I prayed for Hermana and that Frida would be able to feel the spirit. When we taught about the first vision the spirit was so strong and Frida kept touching her heart saying she felt something and didn't know how to explain it. She prayed at the end and became a new investigator for the Hermanas. It was so cool and it was also a member present lesson. I am so grateful we were in the right place at the right time.

The mission also started reading the Book of Mormon together - hark, mark, and embark! I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon. I know the mission will be more unified as we do it. We are scheduled to finish it in 2 transfers so about 6 pages a day. I can't think of a better way to be more unified than feasting on the words of Christ.

I have also been studying the life of Christ more and I have felt it really effect my work this week. I feel the love of the Savior more. I am so excited for this Easter week. Sister Schiess and I have a goal to spread the peace using #PrinceofPeace this week. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and can remember to keep Christ at the center.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!

Much Love,

Sister Wynder
